Postcard Geography

Description: Though another project listed on SCORE H-SS involves sending elelctronic post cards this is for regular postcards. In this project, students exchange postcards with other classrooms. Through what is now lovingly referred to as snail mail, these postcards allow cultural exchanges, polish writing and mapping skills. Registration runs from , with mailings happening September 17 until February 15. Other activities will take place in spring.

Sun Times: The Global Temperature Project

Description: Join schools from around the world as they try to figure out how their geographic location (i.e. where they live) affects their average daily temperature and hours of sunlight. Specifically, students will: * Measure the temperature and record the number of minutes of sunlight per day over a common week.* Compare and contrast the results with classes from all over the world.* Determine how proximity to the equator affects average daily temperature and hours of sunlight.
