Truman Middle School
George Washington, Traiter, or The Father of our Country
By Amanda Cruz

1732  February 22  a man was  born named George Washington . He was born in Westmoreland County Virginia. Probably began school in Fredericksburg soon after family moved to Ferry Farm.  His family  has been traced back to the 1260’s.  In England  their name at the time was De Wessington. Soon after at the tender age of 17 George became the official suveyor of Culpeper county Virginia. Making a big name for himself in 1751 George went to Barbados Island, in the Brittish West Indies. Some people say that he has fathered our countrie, but to me I think he has betrayed us all. This man who shot our people was later  elected delegate to the first continental congress. I dont even know how he won that position. In  1753 Washington  carried the British ultimatum to  the French in Ohio River Valley as a major. Also in 1754 Washington surrendered for necessitys in the  French  and Indian war as a colonel. Although Washington may seem like a good man and he has accomplished many of his goals and dreams, but to me I will always stay by my King.

The Battle of Bunker Hill
We Are Capable of Great Bravery
By. Amanda Cruz

On June 17 1775 the British American troops fought  fiercly for Breeds Hill and Bunker Hill on the Charlestown Peninsula which was overlooking Boston. But before that  0n June 15 1775 the second Continental congress had met as planned on May 10th. They met  to choose a general “ to command all the continental forces raised or to be raised for the defense of the American liberty. Who else could they pick, so of course  they picked the one true betrayer of them all, George Washington.  General Washington rode from Philidelphia to take  command of the rrops outside Boston. Our people captured Breeds hill and Bunkers Hill and all if Chalestowns neck at a terrible cost. Saddly almost 2400 of our people who suffered duing this battle were wounded and 226 including Major Pitcairin ,whoses troops had fired on the Lexington Militia, were killed. The Americans lost 140 and 270 were wounded  and 30 were taken prisoners. I  think it was wrong to  shoot our kings men. Sadly I felt like I was betraing my king .I felt as if I was in George Washington shoes. I also think that this battle has shown what we are made of and  it proves that both the British and the American soilders are capable of great bravery.
