Task 4

Individual Hero Reports and Mandalas
Carefully examine the choices. Choose an individual that you feel has made an extraordinary contribution to American history. Everyone in your group must pick a different hero. Each person will be responsible for a research report on his or her hero as well as a presentation which may be a dance, video, play, multimedia stack, or a web page. These will be evaluated by standards-based rubrics.

To teach other students what you have learned, each group will create teaching posters called mandalas that will include the highlights of the contributions of the heroes in their category. Each mandala will contain a picture of the person in the middle and in each corner there will be words and symbols representing the life experiences and accomplishments of their hero. Your teacher may ask you to attach a short biography to the poster.Be prepared to make a presentation to your class telling about your hero.
