A special thank you to Marie Holmes, Terri Sheridan, and Jan Timbrook from the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Thank you Marie for going beyond the "call of duty" in helping us with our research.
The archives at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History are a treasure trove of information. Original accounts from George Nidever, the sea captain who rescued Juana Maria, as well as newspaper articles and anthropology reports are available there, with help from very knowledgeable staff. Jan Timbrook, curator at the Natural History Museum, has given a very good historical account of the Lone Woman.
