Vic's Barber Shop

Vic Bruglira has been operating his barber shop at the Apple Valley Inn for 49 years. When he opened his shop in 1954 he charged $1.50 for a haircut.

This autographed photo of Roy Rogers hangs in Vic's Barber Shop.

Vic cut Roy Rogers hair for 40 years. He met many other famous people when they stayed at the Apple Valley Inn. He told us about meeting Bob Hope, Alan Ladd and Barbara Stanwyck. Two movies that they filmed at the Inn were Eight on the Lam and Always Tomorrow.

Vic told us that he and his customers used to bet on how long it would be before the next car drove by on Highway 18 outside his shop. He remembered that once it was 23 minutes before another car passed by.

Today Highway 18 is a very busy four lane highway renamed Happy Trails Highway in honor of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.
