(5,000 varas was equal to one league, or 2.6 miles.) Boundaries were usually natural land formations. Such as rivers, streams, a grove of trees, a pile of large boulders, foothills, lakes, ponds, and mountains. There were very few buildings or structures other than the missions and pueblos.
