This museum is intended to be used with first grade students using a computer, access to the internet and a screen so that the whole class can see each page.

Each room of the museum is a separate page with activities and links to sites on the web. I anticipate that the class will go through the entire museum, doing activities as determined by the teacher and viewing the links listed in each room. At the end of the tour, I expect that the program will be used in the classroom by students who will revisit web links that they particularly enjoyed.

The teacher needs to be aware that most links contain links to other sites and he/she needs to monitor or set parameters for students to visit web sites in the classroom. Disclaimer: While the links here have been scrutinized for their grade and age appropriateness; contents of links on the World Wide Web change continuously. It is advisable that teachers review ALL links before using this museum with their students.

Transportation is the study of the movement of people and goods. The study of transportation is part of the California first grade history/social studies curriculum as set forth in the Academic Standards. Specifically, the study of transportation relates to standard 1.5 where students compare and contrast everyday life in different times and recognize that some aspects of people, places and things change over time and others stay the same.

As students travel through this museum, they will be focusing on changes in transportation in the United States through time. Specific questions to be answered are:
